Candle Care and Safety
Getting the most out of your South Pacific Aromas Soy Wax Candle!
1. Trim the wick each time before you light your candle
Your candle from south pacific aromas has already been trimmed and ready to burn. Each time thereafter, you will need to trim the wick down to approx. 0.5cm using our south pacific aromas candle care kit, which includes the ‘wick trimmer’. You can also use sharp scissors or nail clippers. It is most important to continue to trim the wick before each burn. This will give a cleaner, and brighter burn. Untrimmed wicks will most likely give you a mushroom shape wick that will obscure and dull the flame. Excessively long wicks are a top cause of those nasty smoky stains that end up on your glass jar. Trimming the wick keeps the flame in control and prevents those marks forming in the first place.
2. Let the wax melt all the way across
Once you have lit your candle, do not blow it out, until the top layer of the wax has completely melted all the way across. This could take several hours! If for whatever reason you fail to achieve a full melt, you are contributing to a process, we call “tunneling”. This is where the wick starts to sink and lower, like a tunnel is forming right through the centre of the candle.
Eventually, the tunnel will grow so deep that it will be hard to light the wick at all. More importantly,
All that un-melted wax on the sides represents hours of lovely fragrance and burn time you bought will never be utilised.
It takes patience, but if you melt the wax all the way across every time you burn, the surface of the candle will stay flat and the sides of the jar will stay clean, all the way down until the candle is spent.
3. Keep your candle away from moving air
Avoid keeping your burning candle near fans, air conditioners, open windows or heavily traffic areas
(Where people are constantly walking past) moving air can disturb the flame, leading to even more
Unsightly black marks on the glass.
4. Always follow the warning label instructions
Always check the warning label below the jar and follow any instructions noted.
